Family Nature Club

We offer free guided hikes and events for families year-round. Our family events aim to inspire and empower folks to take their families outside to enjoy nature for happier, healthier and smarter children. Nature programs offer kids and families an easy way to learn and grow, we’re thrilled to be able to offer these opportunities in our community and we hope you can join us.  Information about out events is updated on our Facebook events page!

Want to spend the first day of the New Year outside?

Everyone is invited to join Nature Nuts families for a free, ranger-guided hike around Deep Lake. America’s State Parks ‘First Day Hikes’ are a national initiative organized more than 25 years ago.

Nolte State Park’s Lake Trail is a lovely, easy 1-1/4-mile-loop. It’s a great pick for families and is stroller friendly. The hike will continue around the lake through the forested Green River Gorge. You’ll likely spot woodland animals along the way, and your guide will discuss forest and lake ecology. And don’t forget to get your First Day Hikes pin as a memento of your outing. At noon, you might see some crazy souls doing a Polar Bear swim!
There are restrooms, picnic tables, and a playground.
Pets on leashes are welcome.
Parking is free at all state parks on January 1.
We will meet at the main bulletin board near the restrooms.
If you get lost or can't find the trailhead, give us a call at (206) 271-8899.
